• The heart of good therapy is co-creating a trusting and safe relationship. This means I will work to earn your trust by being consistent, transparent, and non-judgmental. As we begin the therapy process together, I will get a sense of what brings you to therapy, what matters to you, and what enlivens you.

I am interested in your strengths alongside your struggles, your passions alongside your frustrations, your values alongside your challenges - everything that makes you uniquely, and fully, who you are. We will go at your own pace to focus on what you want to process, and I will offer tools when they are useful (like ways to ground yourself when overwhelmed, or new perspectives on old patterns), and always with your permission and input.

My values as a therapist are curiosity, humility, empowerment, authenticity, openness, and compassion. If I ever miss the mark, I want to know. Repairing a rupture is part of the work. I invite honest feedback, including when something doesn't feel right or when you need me to push you more. I will check in with you regularly, and you can always let me know if we are moving too fast, too slow, or in the wrong direction.

  • I work with young people (ages 14+) and adults of any age.

I consider myself to be a generalist, meaning that I have the skills to work with an array of presenting concerns. Some examples of common themes and concerns that I work with include:

    • Post-traumatic growth

    • LGBTQIA+ issues

    • Body image concerns

    • Anxiety, including social anxiety

    • Depression

    • Self-harm

    • Suicidal thoughts

    • Political anxiety

    • Life transitions

    • Family and relationship stressors

    • Career concerns

    • Self esteem concerns

    • Grief and loss

    • Self-care

    • Burnout

    • Stress management

  • My approach is integrative, meaning I tailor therapy to you and your needs by drawing from several evidence-based frameworks. I most commonly utilize frameworks and techniques from relational therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and existential therapy.

    • Relational therapy uses our relationship as a real-time practice ground to support you in your personal relationships. How you show up with me (including moments of humor, joy, or even disconnection/disagreement) becomes useful information for how you show up in the world.

    • ACT aims to strengthen psychological flexibility - the ability to be present with difficult feelings without being ruled by them. This means learning to:

      • Notice your thoughts without automatically believing them

      • Stay grounded in the present moment, even when it's uncomfortable

      • Take action toward what matters to you, even alongside fear or doubt

    • DBT is about building a life worth living by learning practical skills in four areas:

      • Distress tolerance (getting through a crisis without making it worse)

      • Emotional regulation (managing intense feelings)

      • Mindfulness (staying in the present)

      • Interpersonal effectiveness (asking for what you need and setting boundaries)

    • Existential therapy gently faces the big questions: What gives your life meaning? How do you live with uncertainty, loss, or the awareness of death? And how do you exercise your freedom to choose (even when it's hard)?

  • I am in-network with Aetna, Anthem, Blue Shield, Carelon, Cigna, Evernorth, and Quest. Your insurance and copays are charged through Headway.

I am also in-network with Humboldt Medi-Cal (Partnership).

I offer superbills that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement if I am out-of-network with your insurance carrier. My current rate for individual therapy is $150 per session.
